uBuyWeRush started selling online since 1998 with websites such as Classifieds2000.com We started selling on eBay in July 2000.
We started listing our unwanted items. In January 2002 we started attending public storage auctions looking for items of great value to list on eBay.
Our first public storage auction we won it for $1.00, that's right just $1.00 and sold all of the items for more than $600.00, between eBay and our yard sale, we knew we discovered a great full time job.
In 2002, we rented our first offices, 1260 sq. ft. in the City of Long Beach. Yes, we were nervous, it was up to us to make it happen. In 2004 we expanded again adding another 1500 sq. ft. to our operation. Two years later 2006 we expended again addnig 500 sq. ft. to our eBay business.
At this time the eBay drop-off store franchise craze was going on, everyone was talking about it. I remember seeing about six different eBay Drop Off Store trade show franchises at the eBay Live back in 2006. All the hype!
Well my smart wife computed the eBay Drop Off numbers and it just didn't make sense to her. To tell you the truth, I was on board with the eBay Drop Off franchises, what can I say, we were successful.
But the numbers did not convince her, see saw the future and she knew it would bury us. She made a good observation, she said, we already know about shipping domestic and international, we understand customs forms, we know how to pack fragile items when shipping so why not look into The UPS Store franchise.
She sure picked a winner! Three years later our The UPS Store in Lynwood, California is a success.
We finally closed our eBay drop off store in 2008, a combination of a huge rent increase and the downward spiral of the economy.
I loved our store but when rent goes from $1950 to $3500/month in today's economy, ouch, what is the landlord thinking . . .
Anyways, we continue to succeed, our The UPS Store is solid, we continue to list and sell on eBay, a passion we have and best of all, we became Education Specialist trained by eBay.
